MAP issues Position Paper on Cannabis Legislation

The MAP has issued a position statement in response to the Government’s White Paper on Cannabis Use. Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug among Maltese youth and longterm use is associated with increased risk of schizophrenia, and by impacting brain maturation, may also negatively interact with depression, bipolar mood disorder and anxiety disorders.

In light of this the MAP has raised a number of points to be taken up by the relevant authorities, with the sole aim of ensuring that any new legislation on cannabis use takes into account its impact on the mental health of our citizens.
