The Maltese Association of Psychiatry in collaboration with the Maltese Association of Public Health Medicine have issued a joint statement on Suicide Prevention, this being the theme of World Mental Health Day 2019.
Suicide is a preventable cause of death with repercussions reaching far beyond the victims themselves. The Associations propose a number of measures to be taken and urge Policy Makers to facilitate the recognised expert bodies in the area in order to develop an appropriate action plan.

The Maltese Association of Psychiatry in collaboration with the Malta Association of Public Health Medicine and the Malta College of Family Doctors has organised a Symposium entitled: Suicide Prevention in Primary Care
The Symposium took place on the 9th of October 2019, on the eve of the World Mental Health Day of which topic this year was Suicide Prevention. It was targeted for Medical Professionals and the discussion panel consisted of doctors hailing from Public Health, Psychiatry and Family Medicine.
