World Mental Health Day is commemorated on the 10th October of each year and it is with us again.
No one is immune to mental health disorders. Furthermore, the current Covid-19 Pandemic is expected to increase the need of mental health services and psychosocial support in the coming months and years.
Globally, depressive disorders are ranked as the single largest contributor to non-fatal health loss. In 1 year 80 million days were lost due to anxiety and depression, at a cost of 5.3 billion pounds.
This year’s World Mental Health Theme is: Investing in Mental Health. The Maltese Association of Psychiatry urges the Maltese government to actively invest in mental health in order to provide the highest standard of care that Maltese citizens deserve.
